Jeff Bridges performed two sold-out shows Thursday night at SLO Brewing Co. in San Luis Obispo.
He looks like The Dude and acts like The Dude, said concert-goer Sarah Linn, a Tribune entertainment reporter, referring to Bridges character in the film The Big Lebowski.
The first show lasted about an hour and a half, Linn said.
The first show drew an enthusiastic crowd of mostly gray-haired music fans. Bridges, wearing a blue and white Hawaiian shirt and blue jeans, opened with the Zydeco tune Baby, I Dont Know.
He performed a mixture of country songs from his film Crazy Heart, including Get a Hold On You, some rock songs and cover songs including The Weary Kind by Ryan Bingham, as well as some songs from his new album, Jeff Bridges.
He posed for photographs before and after the show, Linn said.
Though he received an Academy Award for portraying country singer Bad Blake in the movie Crazy Heart, Bridges performed as himself during the shows.
After the success of Crazy Heart, Bridges launched a side career as a performing musician. With his band named the Abiders, a nod to The Big Lebowski Bridges performed songs from Crazy Heart, plus songs from his recent major label debut, Jeff Bridges.
After taking a year off from his acting career to focus on playing music, Bridges has returned to film work. One upcoming movie, R.I.P.D., will feature him acting alongside Kevin Bacon, another actor who also performs as a musician.
