Q: Why change?
A: This is the first major redesign of SanLuisObispo.com in several years. Our main goal has been to produce a site that is less cluttered and easier to use, while still providing all the latest news, photo galleries, things to do and other information you expect to find. You should also notice that the speed of the site has improved.
Q: Am I going to get used to this only to have you change it again?
A: This is version 1.0 of our new site, and we do expect to add several features and enhancements over the next several weeks and months. But the look and feel of the site will basically remain the same.
Q: Where are the obituaries?
A: To find the obituaries, hold your cursor over the News link in the main navigation and click on Obituaries in the dropdown menu. You can also go directly to www.sanluisobispo.com/obituaries/.
Q: Will I need to register again?
A: No. Your existing username and password have been carried over to the new site. To log in to your SanLuisObispo.com account, or to register for an account, click the link above the search box at the top of the homepage.
Q: I have my favorite pages on your site bookmarked. Will those bookmarks still work?
A: Yes, they should. We did pare down some redundant sections, so if you have a problem finding something, please check our Site Map; you'll find a link to it at the bottom of every page.
Q: Where is the best place to find breaking news?
A: The homepage is the place to check for all the latest news. You can also find news from your favorite section by going to that section.
Q: Where did my favorite blog go?
A: Youll find a roundup of recent blog posts on the homepage; to see all our blogs, go to http://www.sanluisobispo.com/blogs/. If youre looking for the latest from Joetopia, you can find it in our Columnists section, which is under Opinion in the navigation. You can also go straight to www.sanluisobispo.com/joetopia.
Q: How do I find what other people are reading?
A: A list of the most-read stories of the day can be found on the right side of most pages on the site. Its labeled Most Popular.
Q: Where can I find the crime maps? How about the mugshot gallery?
A: The crime maps and the mugshot galleries are in the Crime section. Hold your cursor over News in the main navigation bar, then click on Crime in the dropdown menu. There youll find a link to the crime maps and mugshots.
Q: Where do I find the photo galleries?
A. Youll find the most recent galleries of news photos on our homepage. Photos of local sporting events can be found on the front of the Sports section. Don't see what you're looking for? Check our Photos section at www.sanluisobispo.com/photos/.
Q: Where is the daily poll?
A: Its still located on the homepage, on the right side of the page. You'll have the opportunity to answer three poll questions, and then see how your answers compare to other people's.
Q: How do I access the iTribune?
A: You can access the iTribune, the electronic edition of our newspaper, by clicking on the iTribune icon at the bottom of any page. You will be prompted to log in with your username and password you must have a valid iTribune subscription to access the e-edition.
Q. I am having trouble finding things to do on the Central Coast. What do I do?
A: You can find a redesigned events calendar on the righthand side of the homepage. Just click on the category you want movies, restaurants, etc. You can also add your public event from the calendar link. To see the full events calendar, go to events.sanluisobispo.com/. You can click on the Entertainment link in the blue bar to find profiles of local restaurants, movie showtimes and more.
Q: I can't find what I am looking for, what do I do?
A: You can go to the search box at the top of the site and type in the name or a description of what you're trying to find. You can also click on the "Site Map" at the bottom of each page. The Site Map is a list of all the major sections on the website.
Q: Can I still comment on articles?
A: Yes just log in with your SanLuisObispo.com, Disqus, Facebook or Twitter account to post a comment. Keep in mind that comments posted with your Facebook or Twitter account may display your real name. (For help with your Disqus account, see Disqus' FAQ page.)
Q: I'm using an older browser. Will that make a difference in how the site looks?
A: Yes, for the best experience you should use Mozilla Firefox 10 or above, Internet Explorer 7 or 8 or above, or Google Chrome.
