One brown pelican had the mixed blessing of grabbing the remains of a large fish scrap that had been tossed in the water at Port San Luis by a fisherman. It was too big to swallow and the bird was the target of other birds trying to get a piece of the action. Eventually the bird flew off with the prize. David Middlecamp 8-9-2012
