Last Sunday, I spent the morning kayaking among whales in Avila Bay. When I returned to the beach near Avila Pier, my euphoria turned to disgust. The surf line was strewn with hundreds of fake, waterlogged flower petals, possible residue from a beach wedding? Littering on land is condemned, so why is littering the beach, in the name of celebration, condoned? Please, everyone, respect the beach!
