Sheriff's deputy pleads not guilty to domestic violence charge

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said John Pozdolski was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim. He was actually ordered not to molest, annoy, threaten, or harass her.

A Sheriff’s Office deputy has pleaded not guilty to a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence.

John Pozdolski, 37, entered his not guilty plea Wednesday afternoon in the Paso Robles branch of San Luis Obispo County Superior Court before Judge Jeffrey E. Burke, who granted a restraining order in the case, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Pozdolski must not molest, annoy, threaten or harass the alleged victim as part of the order.

The alleged incident occurred July 16 in Los Osos while Pozdolski was off duty, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

He was arrested following an “internal investigation into this incident and other related matters,” the news release said. Pozdolski was placed on “paid administrative leave until the court process and the internal investigation is completed.”

The case is scheduled for an Oct. 17 pre-trial hearing.
