SLO man sought after allegedly choking, threatening to kill girlfriend

San Luis Obispo police are looking for a 23-year-old man suspected of choking his girlfriend and threatening to kill her with a knife before fleeing the home they shared, police said in a news release Friday afternoon.

A 9:15 a.m. Friday, police responded to a report of domestic violence at a home in the 300 block of Sandercock Street.

Dane James Bennett of San Luis Obispo is suspected of assaulting his girlfriend, whose name has not been disclosed, “by choking her until she was almost unconscious,” according to the news release.

After the alleged assault, police say Bennett fled from the residence before officers arrived.

Police are still looking for Bennett and encourage anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department at 781-7317. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP.
