Central Coast wines win at S.F. contest

The San Francisco International Wine Competition saw entries from 1,300 wineries in 29 countries, with a total of 4,556 wines.

Central Coast wines earned many honors, the highest of which were:

Best Zinfandel went to DePaola Vineyards of Arroyo Grande Valley for its 2008 Zinfandel, and Best Red Rhône went to Hearst Ranch Winery of Paso Robles for its 2009 Red Rhône Blend Three Sisters Cuvée.

Also earning Double Gold high honors were several Paso Robles wines: Bob Wine 2008 Premium Bordeaux Blend; Castoro Cellars 2009 Syrah Reserve; Chateau Lettau 2010 Tempranillo; Chateau Lettau 2010 Secret Stash Reserve Syrah; Giracci Vineyards 2009 Syrah; Midnight Cellars 2006 Premium Bordeaux Blend Mare Nectaris; Rosenblum Cellars 2008 Zinfandel; and Thacher Winery 2009 Red Rhône Blend GSM.
