Graffiti suspect arrested in Paso Robles

Man found with markers and spray-paint cans, police say

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said the incident occurred on the west side of Paso Robles. It was actually on the east side.

A 20-year-old Paso Robles man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly defacing a shopping center sign on Paso Robles' east side, according to a Paso Robles Police Department news release.

Around noon, police said they received a call from a witness reporting someone spray-painting graffiti in the 100 block of Niblick Road.

The suspect was reportedly tagging a shopping cart return sign and then fled the scene in a vehicle, the witness told police.

Police found him in the parking lot of Centennial Park on Nickerson Drive, about three miles away. He was identified by the witness, police said.

The suspect, arrested for misdemeanor vandalism, also had “numerous markers and spray paint cans linking him to the crime,” police said. He was booked at the department's detention facility and released, police said.

Police are currently investigating whether other local incidents of vandalism may be linked to the suspect.
