Taylor Anderson went 2 for 4 with two RBI, Chad Girodo pitched three solid innings in relief, and the San Luis Obispo Blues held on to win 6-5 over the Wichita Prospects in a summer collegiate baseball game at the 78th annual National Baseball Congress World Series on Tuesday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita, Kan.

The Blues (35-16) had a 6-3 lead after the top of the seventh inning, but the Prospects’ two-run rally in the ninth fell just short.

Girodo had a solid outing in relief for the Blues, who are making their first World Series appearance since 2006. He got the win after finishing with six strikeouts and allowing no walks, one earned run and two hits.

Tanner Witt, Brandon Carr and Cody Dufrene also had two hits apiece for the Blues, who will continue their run in the double-elimination tournament on Thursday against the Greeley (Colo.) Grays.
