Sheriff's deputy arrested on suspicion of domestic violence

Published: July 30, 2012

A San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and booked into County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence.

According to a news release from the Sheriff's Office, Deputy John Pozdolski was arrested following an “internal investigation into this incident and other related matters.” The alleged incident occurred July 16 in Los Osos while Pozdolski was off duty. The release didn’t elaborate on what “related matters” may have been in reference to.

“Personnel matters are protected by law and commenting on them could open up the county to unnecessary and costly litigation if we violate that law,” said the news release.

“The Sheriff's Office holds our employees to the same or higher standards than other members of the community,” the release noted.

Pozdolski was placed on “paid administrative leave until the court process and the internal investigation is completed.”
