A 38-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in rural Paso Robles on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly beating another man with a hammer.

In a news release, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said Roger Glenn West got into a fight with the victim over money. Deputies responded at 5 p.m. to 5585 Aluffo Road in the Running Deer Ranch Area near Nacimiento Lake to a 911 call of a man being attacked.

West is accused of hitting the victim multiple times with a hammer. The victim was critically injured and was airlifted to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton.
