UPDATE 2:30 p.m. A 44-year-old man North County man who died early Saturday after crashing his motorcycle on Highway 101 just outside Atascadero has been identified as Jon Eric Schulze.
Further details about the cause of the crash were not available Monday. Results of toxicology tests are still pending, said CHP Officer Todd Cookston.
Schulze was listed as living in Paso Robles but may have recently moved to Atascadero, he said.
Original story: A 44-year-old Paso Robles man died after crashing his motorcycle in Atascadero early Saturday, according to the CHP.
About 2 a.m., the man was speeding south on his 2002 Harley Davidson along Highway 101 north of San Ramon Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and hit the center divider, according to a CHP news release.
The rider, whose name was not disclosed, lost control and he was thrown, striking the center dividers guard rail, the CHP said.
Investigators said alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.
