Correction: Because of incorrect information from the Sheriff's Office, an earlier version of this story had the wrong name for suspect Louie Bracamonte. Also, the charges each suspect faces have been added to this story.
Sheriffs deputies arrested a pair of Fresno men in the early morning hours Friday following a high-speed chase through a Cayucos residential area that ended with the fleeing pair smashing their car into a road sign and taking off on foot before deputies caught up with them.
Arthur Gamez, 35, was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of evading arrest, attempted burglary and violating parole. Louie Bracamonte, 35, was booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest, according to jail records.
The department said deputies went to a call about two men acting suspiciously near a car in Cayucos at 2:43 a.m. Deputies approached the car, which took off, reaching speeds of as high as 70 miles per hour through a residential area before hitting a road sign at 13th Street and South Ocean Avenue.
Neither suspect was hurt, but they fled. Deputies apprehended them.
