Letter: Time for Maldonado

Published: July 20, 2012

I am only a 15-year-old 10th-grader, but men and women who work ceaselessly to achieve the American Dream have always impressed me. As a second generation Mexican-American who started in the fields and ended a businessman, Abel Maldonado is one of these people. Not only does Maldonado have the background to identify with all walks of life, he also has the knowledge to best serve our 24th Congressional District. Maldonado doesn’t stand for extremism or partisanship and can be counted on to represent all the voters of this district, not just his own party.

As lieutenant governor, he sought to abolish partisan barriers. That’s who we need in Washington during this turbulent time: A congressman willing to fight for what is best for our district and put an end to partisan bickering.

Lois Capps is a kind woman, but after six straight terms, it’s time for new blood and real leadership. Maldonado, a homegrown leader, wants to fight tooth and nail for this district’s welfare and inalienable rights.
