Democrat U.S. Rep. Lois Capps raised more campaign money in the most recent quarter than her Republican opponent, Abel Maldonado, and has more cash on hand as the campaign enters mid-summer.
Incumbent Capps, D-Santa Barbara, is seeking to retain her seat in the 24th Congressional District, which includes Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. The election is Nov. 6.
Capps collected $577,531 in the most recent quarter. She said 2,543 donors gave, with 87 percent contributing less than $200. The campaign has $1,288,370 cash on hand.
Maldonado reported raising $359,000, and his campaign said he has $500,000 cash on hand.
