Fireworks should be visible tonight at Pismo Beach, Morro Bay and Cayucos

Local forecaster predicts clouds will be high enough to let rocket's red glare be seen

Fog is going to be stubborn to clear along the coast today, but local weather expert John Lindsey says the clouds should rise to about 750 feet in elevation so that tonight's fireworks will be visible in shows at Pismo Beach, Morro Bay and Cayucos.

A storm system will cross over the Central Coast today and into tomorrow. While it won't bring rain, it will deepen the marine layer of fog and low clouds, said Lindsey in his daily forecast.

"However, the cloud ceiling should remain above 750 feet allowing for adequate viewing of the firework displays at Pismo Beach, Morro Bay and Cayucos," Lindsey said.

High temperatures this afternoon will be in the low 70s in San Luis Obispo and low 80s in the North County. Beaches will be in the 60s.

Lindsey said the weather Thursday will be more of the same, but a heating trend will begin Friday and continue into the weekend. The high-pressure area that has brought blistering temperatures to the Midwest and East may slide toward the western states next week, he said, and if that occurs, SLO County could also be in for hot readings.
