Independence Day celebrations around San Luis Obispo County on Wednesday:

• Arroyo Grande. 1 p.m. Village Band concert, hot dogs, lemonade and ice cream. Rotary Bandstand, Heritage Square Park. Refreshments for sale. 473-2250.

• Atascadero. 7 a.m. Morning runs, pancake breakfast, flag ceremony at Faces of Freedom Memorial, bounce houses, pony rides, free Charles Paddock Zoo admission, food and band. Atascadero Lake Park. Free.

• Cayucos. 5 a.m. Sand-sculpture contest, pancake breakfast, parade at 10 a.m., barbecue, bingo, followed by fireworks at dusk at the pier. Downtown. 995-1200.
