Several local olive oil producers earned honors at the eighth annual California Olive Oil Competition, presented by the Yolo County Fair. Fifty-one producers competed from across the state.

Robbins Family Farm of San Luis Obispo won a gold medal in the medium-intensity Ascolano category; silver in the medium-intensity Ascolano blends category; and silver for its orange-flavored olive oil.

Olea Farm of Templeton won a gold medal in the delicate-intensity Koroneiki category, and a bronze medal in the medium-intensity Barouni category. San Miguel Olive Farm won a gold medal and best in class in the delicate-intensity Tuscan Blends category.

Alta Cresta Orchard of Paso Robles won three silver medals for medium-intensity submissions: in the Tuscan blends, “other mono cultivar,” and “other blends” categories.

Among organic olive oils, Fandango Olive Oil of Paso Robles won a gold medal and best in class for its medium-intensity Arbequina as well as a gold medal for its medium-intensity Arbequina blend.

Winners will be presented Aug. 15-19 at the Yolo County Fair.
