The San Luis Obispo Blues rallied to score nine combined runs in the seventh and eighth innings Saturday for a 12-8 summer collegiate baseball win over the Menlo Park Legends at SLO Stadium.

The Blues (17-10) ended a season-worst four-game losing streak with the win and bounced back from their worst loss of the season, a 16-3 setback to the Legends on Friday night. The Blues’ last win was an 11-6 road win over the Conejo Oaks on Monday.

The game was scoreless for three innings, and the Legends erupted for five runs in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth for a 7-0 lead before San Luis Obispo got going offensively.

Bryan Peters led the Blues at the plate with a double, a triple, six RBI and three runs scored. Will Maddox and Austin Christensen also had two hits in San Luis Obispo’s 10-hit attack. Christensen and Matt Shortall both had doubles for the Blues.

Phillip Gerber, who came on in relief of Blues starter Sam Frank in the fourth inning, pitched 3 1⁄3 innings to get the win before Thomas Cortese and Daniel Mengden pitched the final two innings. Gerber allowed five hits and two runs but also struck out five.

The Legends outhit San Luis Obispo 14-10 and lost despite getting home runs from Joe Goldenberg, J.T. Greenhood and Jeff Keller.

North County Indians 8, Neptune Beach Pearl 3; Neptune Beach Pearl 8, North County Indians 6

Aaron Ashston keyed North County’s comeback in the opener as the Indians used a seven-run seventh inning to down Neptune Beach.

The Indians scored all of their runs in the nightcap in the fourth inning but couldn’t overcome an early 7-0 deficit.

In the opener, North County (16-3) trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the seventh. In that inning, the Indians used an Austin Swank run-scoring single, three walks and Ashston’s grand slam home run to rally for the win.

Swank finished 2 for 4 at the plate.

Evan Peterson, who pitched three innings in relief of starter Sean Safko, earned the win.

In the nightcap, the Indians were held to three hits, all in the fourth inning, when they scored the six runs. Ashston had a three-run homer in the fourth.
