When my friend told me she just wrote a check for $1,300 to the Mid-State Fair for her three children to show their animals and what the money was for, I was outraged. I never knew the kids had to pay for their stall space and to show their animals. They also pay $600 a week to camp in their RV, no electricity, no water, just the space. This year, they will be paying a whopping 14 percent to the fair for the sale of their animals, increased from 10 percent.

If the fair needs revenue, they need to find it elsewhere and stay out of these kids’ and their families’ pocketbooks.
