SLO’s Porter goes 4 for 4 in 10-7 loss

The San Luis Obispo Blues matched their longest losing streak of the summer collegiate baseball season by suffering a 10-7 loss to the Orange County Pioneers on Wednesday night at SLO Stadium.

The last time the Blues (16-8, 11-6 California Collegiate League) lost two in a row was to the San Luis Obispo Rattlers to open the season and to the Conejo Oaks and Team Vegas in back-to-back losses on June 8-9.

The Pioneers jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the third inning Wednesday, and held off San Luis Obispo’s rally.

Both teams combined for 20 hits, with 12 belonging to Orange County, but there were no extra-base hits.

Josh Fuentes had a big night for the Pioneers, going 4 for 5 with three RBI.

For the Blues, Terry Porter went 4 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Will Maddox was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and one RBI. The Blues and Pioneers wrap up their three-game series today at 6 p.m. in SLO Stadium.

Santa Maria Packers 12, San Luis Obispo Rattlers 0

San Luis Obispo allowed Santa Maria to score 10 of its runs in the first four innings, including a seven-run fourth, in a road loss.

San Luis Obispo finished with one hit — a single by Marc Flores in the first.

The Rattlers (19-8) finished with three errors.

Santa Maria had 13 hits, with Chris Rivera and Taylor Gillian each collecting a double.

The Rattlers return to action Friday at the Palm Springs Power. Game time is 7 p.m.

Team Victory 6, North County Indians 1

Mike Livingston went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and one run scored, but the North Country Indians (15-2) couldn’t overcome an early deficit in a home loss to Team Victory, which snapped the Indians’ nine-game winning streak.

Team Victory opened the game with a 4-0 lead after the second and held on for the win.

Livingston had a triple and scored on a base hit from Ryan Raslowsky.
