A 55-year-old Templeton man was arrested in Paso Robles early Wednesday on suspicion of burglary after allegedly breaking out a downtown business window and climbing through it.
Around 1:44 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious subject who was stumbling and looking into business windows in an alley in the 800 block of 12th Street, according to a news release issued by the Paso Robles Police Department.
A different caller then told police that a man was breaking out the windows at a business, police said.
Officers arrived at 1:46 a.m. and detained Templeton resident James Edward Tichy during the alleged break-in. He had reportedly used a piece of cardboard to cover the broken glass as he entered the business, police said.
Police believe that Tichy may be responsible for at least two other recent commercial burglaries in downtown Paso Robles.
He was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of felony second-degree burglary and for violating his parole. He remained there Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $20,000 bail.
The Paso Robles Police Department is requesting assistance from the community regarding additional information about these burglaries. Those with information can contact police directly at 237-6464. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers by calling 549-STOP or texting the information to SLOTIPS (274637).
