Kathleen Parker (Tribune, June 25) put her foot in it again. What she knows about dressage would fit in a thimble.
1. Dressage is not therapy for multiple sclerosis. Ordinary riding is fine but the intricacies of dressage are not in the same category.
2. The cost of a dressage horse can be hundreds of thousands of dollars. Look at the numbers on the Romney tax returns. How can dressage be a business when the only profit is a trophy?
3. Can anyone guess what the cost of transporting a horse is? They travel by chartered 747, which is outfitted like a barn.
4. Finally, this sport, as beautiful as it is, is only for the truly truly rich. Romney talking about it shows how truly out of touch he really is.
