Free event to celebrate summer solstice planned in Morro Bay

Published: June 22, 2012

A summer solstice celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the picnic area of the Morro Bay State Park campground.

The free event is presented by the Central Coast State Parks Association. Exhibits will include exotic insects and live snakes, rescued tortoises and turtles from around the world, live hybrid wolves, marine invertebrate touch tanks and a bird exhibit.

Kids and adults can enjoy making fish prints and necklaces, casting animal tracks, staging do-it-yourself puppet shows, painting Native American designs and playing a Bird Concentration game.

Parking is available across the road from the campground, in the marina parking lot.
