Cal Poly has won first place for the third year in a row at a nationwide concrete canoe competition.
Twenty-two schools competed at the 25th National Concrete Canoe Championship, which was held at the University of Nevada in Reno. The competition involves an academic paper and presentation of the canoe, as well as five athletic race events: mens and womens slalom/endurance races and mens, womens and co-ed sprint races.
Cal Polys canoe was named Prospector, in honor of the California Gold Rush. The team won a $5,000 scholarship and a trophy.
