The Rubes cartoon is coming to a phone near you, and it promises to be a mooooving experience.
The syndicated strip Rubes, which is written and drawn by creator Leigh Rubin in Nipomo, appears daily in more than 400 newspapers, including The Tribune. Recently, Rubin was approached by an app developer, who happened to be a big fan of Rubins Rubes Zoo in a Box desk calendar.
He asked if I had ever thought of doing a calendar app, Rubin said. And the rest was history.
The app was designed by Silverware Software, creators of several best-selling apps for the iPhone and iPad, including MileTracker and Flight Pro Update. This particular app features a daily reminder that allows consumers to select what time theyd like to receive their joke of the day.
It even has some fun features, like the daily reminder, which can either moo or cock-a-doodle-doo at you to make sure you get your minimum daily laugh requirement, Rubin said.
