Saturday starting at 1 p.m., the third annual San Miguel School get-together of alums, teachers, and students will be held in the San Miguel Park on K Street. This is an informal occasion. Check out the new San Miguel page on Facebook.

G.R.E.A.T. program From Monday to June 22, The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Gang Resistance, Education and Training program is offering children a one-week free summer day camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lillian Larsen School, 16th and L streets.

The G.R.E.A.T. program is designed to teach youngsters life skills to avoid problems with gangs, drugs and alcohol. Camp will be fun, and will include games and field trips.

A large group of Lillian Larsen students graduated from the program during the past school year.

Sponsors and donations are needed. Donations help the children directly and may be mailed to the Sheriff’s Advisory Committee, P.O. Box 3752, San Luis Obispo, CA 93403.

Father’s Day brunch Sunday, the Country Diner will serve a special Father’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The café opens at 8 a.m. and the regular menu will be served throughout the day. The diner will close early Sunday so staffers can enjoy the rest of the day with their families.

Council to hold election On June 27, the San Miguel Advisory Council will hold elections from 6 to 7 p.m.

The election will be prior to their regular meeting at the community building in the park.

Voters will choose three members and one alternate. Candidates are Noel Carpenter, Tom Banish, Jean Hoffmann, Sharon Brower (incumbents), Allen Belden Sr., Steve Christian and John Randall McClure. Gary Davis and Denis Degher will leave the council.

The SMAC represents the San Miguel Area of Influence to the County Planning Department and the Board of Supervisors on matters of land use, public services and growth.
