The new Firestone Walker Brewing Co. brewhouse tower — designed to honor two iconic agricultural structures in the Paso Robles area — got its top last week.

The roof addition is part of a major project to upgrade and add custom features to the brew facility on Ramada Drive. The new 60-barrel brewhouse will include milling and kettle modifications as well as technology to better track the brewing process.

The tower provides a more efficient way to brew beer, using gravity to move ingredients. Firestone Walker also says the tower pays homage to the Farmers Alliance building in Paso Robles and the Templeton Feed and Grain building.

The tower was designed by Central Coast architect Val Milosevic.

Firestone Walker would not disclose the project’s cost.

Brewery tours and beer production are still under way during construction; the visitors center and tasting room are expected to reopen in a few weeks.
