Ly-Lan Lofgren was named 2012 Social Worker of the Year by the San Luis Obispo unit of the National Association of Social Workers.
She is the units first person of color to receive the award, as well as its youngest recipient, according to a recent news release.
Lofgren is a licensed clinical social worker and certified sex therapist who works in private practice and as a medical social worker at Twin Cities Community Hospital.
She volunteers with the Community Counseling Center, Tranz Central Coast, DSS Cultural Competence Committee, Pacheco Elementary School, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and MedMob.
Lofgren has a masters degree from Rutgers University and has lived in San Luis Obispo for 11 years.
