The woman suspected of killing her mother in Paso Robles became disruptive while waiting to enter court for her arraignment Tuesday and was returned to County Jail, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

Sunni Daun Jackson, 36, was scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. arraignment before Judge John Trice in San Luis Obispo Superior Court.

But she became disruptive to the point where she had to be removed, and her hearing has been put on hold, said sheriff’s Cmdr. Aaron Nix.

Nix said court officials were alerted to the problem, and it will be up to a Superior Court judge to decide how to handle her case. The reason for the disruption was unclear.

Her mother was identified Tuesday by Paso Robles Police Department officials as Earlene Louise Grove, 61, of Paso Robles.

On Friday morning, police responding to a 911 call found Grove dead inside a one-bedroom granny unit on the 900 block of Olive Street. Police arrested her daughter on suspicion of murder.

No information on the cause of death or a motive in the killing has been disclosed.

Jackson has a lengthy criminal history in the county dating back to the 1990s that includes felony convictions for assault with a deadly weapon in 2006 and 2009. She also has convictions for misdemeanor crimes including receiving stolen property, brandishing a deadly weapon and battery.

Paso Robles police Lt. Ty Lewis said Tuesday that officers have had contact with Jackson dating back to 1991, some of which, he said, concerned mental health issues and “bizarre activity.”

Lewis said he couldn’t discuss Jackson’s current mental health status.
