Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop has opened at Broad and Higuera streets in downtown San Luis Obispo.

The new sweets store has set up shop in the space where Uptown Jean Co. operated for 10 years before closing in 2011.

The business is a franchise whose flagship store opened in Camarillo in 2009.

The store offers a wide array of unusual treats, including more than 500 soda varieties with flavors such as bacon, coffee, or peanut butter and jelly.

Along with soda and candy, the store offers sweet treats from earlier times, such as Astro pops and Marathon candy bars (now known as Cadbury’s Curly Wurly).

There are 32 Rocket Fizz franchise stores in operation or in the process of opening throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Tennessee, Indiana, Texas and Nevada.
