Prep Roundup: Atascadero baseball team falls to Santa Ynez 8-4 in tournament final

The Atascadero High baseball team fell to Santa Ynez 8-4 in the Atascadero Easter Tournament championship game Wednesday.

David Mulder went 1 for 3 with a single and two RBI, while Clarke Ball went 1 for 2 with an RBI for the Greyhounds (6-11).

For Mission Prep, Anthony Bosshardt pitched seven innings, gave up one hit and had 10 strikeouts as the Royals defeated South Lake Tahoe 5-0.

Trevor Fernandez, who was named to the all-tournament time after hitting .500 (5 for 10), went 3 for 4 with two RBI.

Calvin Levisay went 2 for 3 with two RBI in the Royals’ win.

Along with Fernandez, Atascadero’s Michael Baez and Logan Sprouse were named to the all-tournament team.

Righetti Spring Tournament

The Bearcats (9-4) split their two games on the day.

Paso Robles opened with a 4-3 walk-off win over Reed, after a two-run double by Kris Pequeno in the seventh.

T.J. Durphee also had a two-run single in the win. Paso Robles then lost 4-0 to Deer Valley, ending what had been a seven-game winning streak for the Bearcats.

Rudy Binkele and Mac Stuart had doubles for Paso Robles.

Don Lugo Tournament

Both Nipomo’s and Arroyo Grande’s games at the Don Lugo Tournament were postponed because of poor weather conditions.

Nipomo will play Arroyo Grande on Saturday.

SOFTBALL

Best of the West Tournament

Righetti’s Best of the West Tournament, which included Atascadero, Paso Robles, Morro Bay and Nipomo was canceled because of poor weather conditions.
