San Luis Obispo police are looking for a man who reportedly attempted to sexually assault a woman Thursday night as she walked alone on Slack Street.
Police say said the woman was walking near the intersection of Hathway and Longview at 11:40 p.m. when she noticed a small, dark- colored older model car slowly drive by her and then make a U-turn.
A few minutes later, she was walking on Slack Street near Longview when a male came up behind her and knocked her to the ground, grabbing at her underwear, police said.
The woman was able to get away and run to a friends house nearby, where she called police. Several San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly police officers searched the area for the man but were not able to find him.
The man is described being in his 20s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a dark-colored, long-sleeve shirt, a dark-colored, beanie-style hat and blue jeans. The woman said she's not sure whether the car she saw before the attack is related.
Anyone who might have witnessed the attack or has information about the man is asked to call the Police Department at 781-7317 or CrimeStoppers at 549-STOP.
