Congressional candidate Christopher Mitchum has received the endorsement of well-known conservative Rep. Tom McClintock.

Mitchum is running against Democratic incumbent Lois Capps, Republican Abel Maldonado and Independent Matt Boutté for the right to represent California’s 24th District in the House of Representatives.

McClintock, who represents California’s 4th District and is a leader in the GOP’s conservative wing, called Mitchum “the only candidate in this race who understands that our prosperity depends on lower taxes, less wasteful government spending, fewer regulations and more energy production.”

Mitchum is the youngest son of late actor Robert Mitchum.
