Man stabbed during attempted robbery in SLO on Friday night

San Luis Obispo police are looking for a man who stabbed another man during an attempted robbery Friday night.

According to police, a 24-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were walking near the intersection of Los Osos Valley and Madonna roads at 11:30 p.m. when they heard someone coming up quickly behind them. An unknown man grabbed the woman's purse and tried to run off with it, but she refused to let it go.

Her companion fought the unknown man, and was stabbed once in his upper body. His neck was also injured. The woman, who is a San Luis Obispo resident, had minor injuries to her hand.

The 24-year-old man, who is from Santa Maria, was treated at French Hospital Medical Center before being moved to another location for additional treatment.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 30s, who is approximately 6 feet tall, 190 pounds and has dark hair and facial hair. He was wearing dark-colored clothing.
