The San Luis Obispo Police Department reports that a water main broke about 8:15 a.m. Sunday in the area north of Foothill Boulevard.

City public works crews were still on the scene as of Sunday afternoon working to fix the break.

Police say that many residents remain without water service in the north end of town.

However, the break hasn't caused traffic-related problems because it took place in a residential neighborhood away from major thoroughfares.
