Former Paso Robles City Councilman Gary Nemeth will run for mayor in the November election.
Nemeth, a retired police officer, says he will strive to work on regaining the publics trust in city leadership by seeking changes in how Paso Robles is managed.
He most recently served on the citys Planning Commission from 2008 to 2010 after being a City Councilman since 2000. Before that, he was on the commission for nine years. He also volunteers in the community.
Nemeth is a U.S. Navy veteran who had a 30-year career in law enforcement before retiring from the San Luis Obispo Police Department in 2003.
Candidates must submit official intentions between July 16 and Aug. 10 to run in the council races.
Current Mayor Duane Picanco is also pursuing re-election. No others have announced plans of intent as of Friday.
