A car remains stuck on the beach after it was stolen in Grover Beach and pushed off a cliff near the Pirates Cove parking lot in Avila Beach.

According to Sgt. Tim Miller of the Grover Beach Police Department, the 2006 Mazda was reported stolen at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the 800 block of North Second Street. At 4:30 p.m., the CHP received a call about the car being over the cliff.

Because of tides, officials were unable to retrieve the vehicle Wednesday. They tried again Thursday, but when tow-truck operators got to the car, they realized they needed more equipment. A new attempt will be made today.

Miller declined to comment on who may have stolen the Mazda.
