Light rain expected in SLO County today

Published: February 29, 2012

Light rain showers should spread over San Luis Obispo County by 11 this morning as a storm system slides down the coast.

Forecaster John Lindsey says the storm should pass over the county between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Rainfall totals will be light, with just a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain expected in the coastal valleys. About half an inch should fall in the coastal mountains.

Temperatures will be cool, with today's highs countywide remaining in just the 50s.

Rain showers will stay in the forecast for Thursday before dry, clear weather returns on Friday and lasts through the weekend, said Lindsey, who has been forecasting local weather for more than 20 years. Offshore winds this weekend will usher a return of high temperatures near 70 degrees, he said.
