UPDATE 10:40 a.m. Thursday: Jodi Fisher, the Cayucos woman battling inoperable cancer, sat and talked with Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday, crossing off another big wish in a continuing journey that included meeting President Obama last week in San Francisco.
Fisher shared her inspiration and her battle with a rare form of cancer while talking with DeGeneres. Fisher's husband, Shawn, and children Callie, 11, and Jonah, 9 were sitting by her side.
On the show, DeGeneres gives the family a $30,000 check from Sara Lee to help pay for the children's college education. DeGeneres told Fisher that the company was moved by her story and wanted to help.
The six-minute clip airs on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" today at 4 p.m.
Fisher, who is battling inoperable cancer, made a bucket list with her family that included meeting the president and going on the Ellen show.
Fishers story became public when she handed out free ice cream in her hometown of Cayucos to celebrate her 44th birthday as a way of giving back to the community.
Four days later she was invited to meet and hug President Obama in San Francisco. That same week, a staff member from "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" contacted her about the possibility of coming on the show.
Fisher is at the taping of the show today, her family at her side. The episode will be aired tomorrow at 4 p.m. on KSBY Channel 6.
