Two South County men have been arrested after one allegedly tried to kill the other in a knife fight Thursday, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriffs Office said Tuesday.
Luis Antonio Cabrera Mendoza, 24, of Nipomo was arrested Friday on suspicion of attempted murder, according to a news release.
The victim, 23-year-old Fabian Andrew Medina of Oceano, was arrested Tuesday for an undisclosed parole violation after he was treated for his injuries.
The incident began Thursday when Medina was dropped off at Arroyo Grande Community Hospitals emergency room in critical but stable condition with multiple stab wounds, authorities said. Officials declined to disclose the identity of the driver.
A witness in the case led sheriffs detectives to Mendoza, who was arrested in Santa Maria at 11:34 p.m. Friday. Mendoza was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he remained Tuesday in lieu of $508,150 bail, according to jail records.
Information gathered over the weekend and into Monday indicated that the stabbing occurred during a fight in Medina's truck in Shell Beach near Highway 101, officials said. The motive for the stabbing has not yet been released.
Medina also remains in County Jail. Information on the violation wasnt immediately available Tuesday.
