The drivers of a sedan and a motorcycle along Highway 227 face separate criminal charges after they were involved in a suspected hit-and-run crash late Saturday.
Officers arrested Seth Bowser, 27, of San Luis Obispo, on suspicion of felony hit-and-run after he crashed his 1996 Saturn SL2 into a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle south of Los Ranchos Road about 9:50 p.m., according to a press release issued Sunday by the California Highway Patrol.

Bowser was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail as of Sunday evening, where he was being held without bail on an “active hold,” which is usually for alleged probation or parole violations or outstanding warrants. Jail records did not specify the reason for the hold.
He had turned himself in at the crash site along the highway, also called Edna Road, south of San Luis Obispo, about an hour and a half after the wreck while officers were still there investigating, the CHP said.
The rider of the motorcycle, Steven York, 49, of Morro Bay, was treated at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for a broken leg, according to the CHP press release.
While at the hospital, “methamphetamine was located on York’s person,” so he was arrested on suspicion of possessing an illegal drug with the intent to sell it, the CHP said.
He has yet to be booked because of his injuries, the CHP said.
York was walking his motorcycle north along 227 trying to restart it after it broke down, according to the press release.
Bowser didn’t see York, according to the CHP, and rear-ended his motorcycle before he fled.
