Hospice du Rhône organizers are encouraging syrah fans to tweet loud and proud about this food-friendly red Thursday, which they’ve proclaimed #Syrah Day.
The San Luis Obispo-based nonprofit is dedicated to promoting and connecting Rhône producers throughout the world.
Its primary event is its 20-year-old celebration held in Paso Robles. The next is slated for April 26-28.
It also has a satellite event at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tenn. It’s preparing for the third annual gathering there March 15-18.
But Thursday, syrah enthusiasts will pause to open a bottle or two. Then they’ll share their thoughts and tasting notes on Twitter or Facebook with the hashtags #Syrah or #SyrahDay.
Rhône enthusiasts with iPhones may also want to check out the iRhone application. It catalogues more than 1,000 wines and 130 producers and importers, offers quizzes, plus has other features during the April gathering.
