The Los Osos Community Services District Board of Directors has appointed Mitch Cooney as the agencys interim general manager.
Cooney replaces Dan Gil-more, who recently resigned from the agencys top administrative post. A search is under way to find someone to permanently fill the position.
Mr. Cooney will oversee the day-to-day operations of the district and assist the district in its search for a permanent general manager, according to a news release from the district.
This is the second time the district has tapped Cooney to fill in as general manager. He also served as interim manager in 2009.
Cooney was the longtime general manager of the Oceano Community Services District and is a former San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder.
He will receive a monthly salary of $3,250 but no benefits. He will also be reimbursed for traveling to and from his home in Pismo Beach.
His contract calls for him to hold the interim position until May 15 or until a permanent replacement is found.
He is expected to work at least four hours a day four days a week.
The district board will finalize Cooneys contract at a special meeting tonight.
