The district is eyeing three options for the campus at Lewis and Olmeda avenues.
Updating all existing buildings at the current site would cost about $16.5 million.
Another option, a mix of modernization and new construction, would cost nearly $30.9 million.
Lastly, Atascadero Unified could spend about $49.5 million to build a new junior high school on district-owned property next to San Benito Road Elementary School.
Costs would be covered by the $117 million school improvement bond measure approved by local voters in November 2010.
Discussion of a possible move comes as Atascadero Unified is considering a new grade configuration for the junior high school.
In January, the districts Citizens Advisory Committee recommended expanding the schools student population to include sixth-graders. Seventh- and eighth-graders would continue to attend classes there.
The school board meets at 7 p.m. today at district headquarters, 5601 West Mall in Atascadero. For more information, call 462-4200.
