"Foster families of the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services' Shelter are amazing. For example, last year more than 500 cats were in foster care. These felines never returned to the shelter because hundreds found homes at volunteer-hosted adopt-a-pets.
And though a great success, there are many cats still in foster care.
Take Jeffrey, hes a 20-pound meatloaf of a cat with great house manners and a gentle disposition. Jeffreys so easygoing his foster mom trusts him to spend his days lounging in a room filled with fragile antiques. Jeffrey also likes being with people, enjoying getting and giving affection. Additionally, hes been fine with other cats.
But Jeffrey, and all the cats currently in foster care, need to find their lifelong homes ASAP. Fosters will soon be at a premium because of the staggering number of mom-cats with kittens, as well as orphaned kittens, that will soon be arriving at the shelter because of the high number of unaltered cats in our community.
You can help:
1. Become a foster family by calling Karen at 528-7319.
2. Donate to ASAPs foster support fund.
3. Adopt.
Tax-deductible donations to ASAP go directly to helping fosters with food and medical expenses. You can send your donations to: ASAP, 900 Stagecoach Road, AG, CA 93420. Donations can also be made online: www.sloasap.org
Or consider adopting Jeffery. Hes a wonderful cat with a half-off rebate waiting for a wonderful home. For more information, call his foster mom, Doris, at 714-4204.
