Big waves drench kids at Moonstone Beach in Cambria

A group of schoolchildren appear to be nearly swept off the rocks on Moonstone Beach near Leffingwell Landing in Cambria shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday. All 14, by her count, emerged seemingly unscathed from the waves, according to Cambria photographer Kitty Greene. She said she yelled at the group to "get off the rocks!" prior to their dunking, as large sets of waves rolled onto the rocks.

Greene said the breakers that washed over the schoolchildren appeared to 10 to 12 feet high. "The kids were quite scared," she said. "I zoomed in on their faces, and there's fear there." Greene could not say where the group was from.
