A tip led to the arrest of a Cambria businessman Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms and illegally selling firearms.
Edward Thomas Preston, 60, was arrested at his place of business, Prestons Antiques & Collectibles, and has since been released on $20,000 bail, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriffs Department.
The tip came through the Crime Stoppers program, which allows tips to be made anonymously.
Detectives bought a weapon advertised for sale at Prestons business, according to a news release, and were able to complete the cash transaction without a state-mandated record of sale. Additional firearms were seized.
Information on Prestons prior felony conviction was not immediately available.
The Sheriffs Department requests that anyone who has purchased firearms from Preston call Detective Robert Burgeson at 781-4521.
