‘I thought you might enjoy this photo of our ragdoll cat named Jackson. I was putting baskets together as holiday gifts with candy and fruit goodies when he decided to see if he could fit in one of the baskets. I’m sure he considered himself the ‘best gift basket of all.’
“Jackson was adopted from a cat shelter in Hollister. He had been dropped in the night drop box at the humane society in Gilroy and then was placed in a local cat shelter. We saw his photo and immediately adopted him.

The Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust is teaming up with the San Luis Obispo Public Library, Guide Dogs of America and Animal Training Unlimited to give children ages 5 to 8 a chance to learn the technologies of dog training.
This hands-on science program, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, will give children the chance to learn dog-training techniques with a professional trainer at the San Luis Obispo City/County Library Community Room, 995 Palm St., in San Luis Obispo. The program is free, but reservations are required. For more information, call 781-5775.

The Feline Network holds cat and kitten adoptions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Petco in the Madonna Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo.
Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested and vaccinated. The adoption fee is $60 for one or $80 for two. A free vet exam is included.
