Paso woman sentenced to prison in drunken-driving crash that killed 20-year-old

A Paso Robles woman was sentenced to seven years and eight months in state prison today, after being convicted in November of involuntary manslaughter and other charges in connection with a drunken-driving crash that killed a 20-year-old man and injured his friend.

Emotional statements were read today in San Luis Obispo Superior Court by several family members of Jacob Keller, who died after a car driven by Jennifer Anne Chill, 46, struck his pickup truck on Oct. 3, 2010, on Serenade Drive in Paso Robles.

Nolan Martinez, 20, and his family also spoke about the impact of the crash on their lives. Martinez was severely injured, saying he has lingering pain from the wreck, including short-term memory loss that has affected his ability to focus.

Chill had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent, according to prosecutors. She slammed into the oncoming truck while driving up a hill in the residential neighborhood as she returned home after visiting a friend, according to evidence presented at the trial.
